Eggs, Grass Stains: Happy Easter from Skyhawks Peninsula

Spring on the San Francisco Peninsula has a way of arriving fast and warm, and our team rode that energy straight into egg hunt season. Over the past few weeks we showed up at events in San Bruno, Pacifica, San Mateo, and Highlands Recreation Center, and honestly? It was one of the most fun couple of weeks we've had in a while.
If you spotted our Skyhawks table at one of those hunts, hi! We're so glad you stopped by.
What Actually Happens at One of These Events
You go in thinking it's going to be a table, some flyers, and a lot of standing around. It is not that.

It starts with the wheel. We had a prize wheel at each event, and the reaction was pretty much the same everywhere: kids spinning, grabbing their prize, drifting away, and then quietly circling back for another turn. At the smaller events they'd just hang around and keep going, spin after spin. At the bigger ones like San Mateo, we actually had lines forming, which was both a little crazy to see and honestly kind of heartwarming. The parents were excited about the $50 program discounts. The kids were excited about the candy. Both reactions were perfect.
At San Bruno we also set up a little volleyball rally game off to the side, where kids and parents could see how long they could keep a ball in the air. The deal was simple: hit the high score and you earn an extra spin. What we did not anticipate was how seriously people would take this. Parents were out there genuinely trying. Kids were diving. There were a few family debates about whether a ball touched the ground or not. It was great.
Between spins and rallies there was a lot of just talking, and that's what we'll remember most. Parents sharing what their kids are into, what they're hoping to try this summer, whether their kid is a natural athlete or still figuring out which foot to kick with. Every one of those conversations reminded us why youth sports matters so much beyond the drills and the scores.
See You Out There
Thanks to every family who stopped by in San Bruno, Pacifica, San Mateo, and Highlands. Thanks for letting your kids steal an extra wheel spin or three. Thanks for taking the volleyball game way more seriously than we expected. And thanks for just talking to us.
We'll be out at more community events throughout the rest of the year, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, if you have questions about programs or want to grab a spot before summer fills up, reach out anytime.
More eggs, more rallies, more grass stains ahead. 🐣 Happy Easter everyone!
